This is no way a review of the toy since what we have here is a sample and not the actual final product, with that being said lets get to it. It feels like forever and a day since I saw the formal announcement of Beagle`s Mospeada Armor Cycle (Ride Armor) at the 2007 Tokyo Anime Fair. The announcement was nothing more than Stick Ride Armor line art in a display case accompanied by the Animedia Mospeada book an IMAI VR-052F model kit and some Gakken toys. They also had a very nice Mospeada VR-052F cloth wall scroll hanging in their both otherwise nothing much to go on but I got excited anyways. I had no idea who Beagle was and as far as I could tell this would be their first try at something transformable. Well fast forward near 2 years later and I finally got my grubby hands on one of Beagle’s show pieces that has been making the rounds at toy events the past few months. The early sample was delivered minus the box, so I haven’t a clue on what the packaging will look like. Most of us already know this toy is going to be released outside of Japan through Toynami under their Robotech Masterpiece Cyclone toy line complete with an entirely different packaging and extra redesigned Scott Bernard head. The Japanese Mospeada version will come packaged in a stackable insert tray. Insert trays are pretty much the standard for toys theses days but personally I would rather have it come in Styrofoam. The Armor Cycle insert try is very sturdy and holds everything in place nicely. Collectors I’m sure will whine about the lack of dead unused space between the toy and the stand which is packed on the base of the tray. The display stand is a great design and compliments the Armor Cycle in both modes. The display stand’s blaster rifle rack is actually the top cover of a hidden compartment which is able to store all the extra accessories. The information plaque (sticker) is a very nice touch and it has a few “fictional” technical specs on the Cycle. On the bottom side of the base you will find trademarks for both Tatsunoko Pro. and Harmony Gold, hopefully this team up will go over smoothly so more high quality products like this one are will see the light of day. Originally this toy was suppose to be 1/12 scale but in the end Beagle went with 1/10 instead which is good since we can pass Stick off as a large size action figure and not a doll. I don’t know how many points of articulation are on the actual skeleton of the figure but it poses fairly easily and does not feel loose or clunky. There are decals for the body armor and weapons, there is very minimal tempo markings on both the figure and the cycle. So this pretty much wraps up Part 1 next up we will take a close look at the Cycle, and transformation with the aid of the 85 step instructions. Adrian A. Lozano

Welcome to part 2 of our Revoltech Expo report. This will foucus more on the domesticaly popular line such as Hokuto no Ken Revolution and the soon to be released Haruhi and Queensblade lines.
The Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) Revolution series is doing well in Japan with many fans of the original manga series that ran over 20 years ago picking them up due to nostaligic factor. The characters that will be released after #007 Raoh were displayed for the first time and some were surprising choices to say the least. #007 Raoh: The last character of the first batch of seven. Though he may be the main villan of the story as he was not a true figure of evil grew to be one of the most popular characters in the series. Got so popular that a mock funeral was held in his honor when he died in the manga Release Date: February The following will be the second batch of characters following the first seven. No exact release date is available but they are all scheduled to be released during or after Spring 2009. Juza: Also known as Juza of the Clouds he is one of the members of the Nanto Goshasei who are sworn to protect the last Nanto General. Shuu: The proud blind warrior of the Nanto Hakuroken who in the end sacrifiices himself to save the future generation from Souther. Souther: The self proclaimed “Holy Emperor” he was destined to rule over all the other Nanto styles He too like Raoh is not a true figure of evil though this is only revealed when he dies atop the pyrimid he built for his mentor. Falco: The Golden General of the Imperial Capital’s army and the chief rival of Kensiro in the second arc of the story. A honorable man who is held in high regard by his army who will sacrifice themselves to protect him. Forced to serve evil to protect Empress Lui he is the “tragic hero” of the story. Uighur, the Warden of Dungeon of Cassandra. The cruel giant in viking armor who uses his whip to kill any who dare try to escape from Cassandra. Of all the characters that will be released Uighur and Shuu are probably the most suprising. Both are essential characters in the story but are more popular among the hard core then the average fan. It finally looks like Revoltech caught the Haruhi bug. As you can see from their display expect to see alot of Haruhi related releases next year. Starting with the Haruhi figure that will be included in the soon to be released Wii game three Haruhi figures will be released in consecutive months starting from February. Seperate from the Revotech Haruhi line the Haruhi bust statues that will be included in four magazines were on show with the Oh My Goddess! character item that will also be available with a magazine. The Queensblade characters will also be making their much awaited debut next year. Called by many the odds on favorite to be the best selling figure line of 2009 it was considered by many “the real main attraction ” of the show. The Revoltech’s many hobby magazine limited version will be last. Dengeki Hobby will be selling through their December issue “Black Overman” the first original character to be released from the Yamaguchi Revoltech line. This will be a different version of the already released Revoltech Gurren Lagann Enkido which will be made available in the November issue of “Figure Oh” This will be all for the Revoltech Expo 09 report. Hope you enjoyed it If you want to check out part 1 of our report click on the link below!!
We’ve been fortunate enough to be lent a sample of the Beagle 1/10 Ride Armor scheduled for release later this month. We have a detailed review up next week but as many people are wondering about how large the thing really is we’ve placed it next to a can of coke so that you can get a idea of how large the thing is. Please note this is a prototype and there is a possibilty that final product may be slightly different.
The annual Revoltech Expo was held this year on October 25 at the Tokyo Anime Center. The main attraction this year was unveiling of their newest brand “Assemble Borg” which is designed to be a mecha figure series that will come with many extra parts and be easy to costumize. There were a few more surprise anouncments that we will show later in this post. It has also been annouced that to prepare for the release of the Third Generation Revoltechs that are scheduled to be released starting on May 1 2009 both the Yamaguchi Revotechs and Fraulein Revoltech would be taking a hiatus after their November releases. The Yamaguchi Revoltech will be shut down until the May re-start while the Fraulein Revoltechs will be off three months before re-starting with the new Haruhi character line. The recently started Hokuto no Ken Revolution and Street Fighter Online series will continue for the forseeable future to be released every month. Lets start with the pictures with the newly announced “Assemble Borg” series. The concept of the series will be according to their official website ( http://assembleborg.com/) “Infinite Number of changeable parts combined with the ultimate action figure”. To be sold only domestically at this point and only through their website the first two from the series will be released on December 15 followed by two more on January 15. One of the things that stand out about the series is that the parts of vehicles that will be released with the action figures will be able to attach to the action figures making it easy to build your own type of powered armor.

Next will be the Street Fighter Online Revoltech series that is being pushed by Kaiyodo. It was designed to replicate exactly how the characters actually move in the mouse controlled game. Not only does it feature many on the icons of the original it also introduces many new characters that can be seen here. The “Russian Red Cyclone” Zangief and the Chinese Martial Artist Baichoufu will be the next from this series to be released. It was also announced that a Alien Revoltech Series would be starting in 2009. Two figures were on display but no word on if the items shown were real products. The reproduction of the cute and well selling Amozon and Seven-Eleven versions of the Yotsubato Donbo- was also being pushed. Both are of course available only through there respectable shops. The third part of our report on the Japan Mokei Hobby Show will feature the items shown at the Beagle and Hasegawa booth. First will be the Beagle booth.
